Data sourcing
The basis of a Business Intelligence solution is centered on the data that forms the inputs from which information is gleaned. The extracting information from multiple sources of data is what leads to a functional BI environment. We work with our customers to identify sources of data that an provide rich inputs that enable reliable results which lead to effective decisions
Data analysis
Analysis of information and extracting useful knowledge from collections of data is central to the data analysis process. The collected information becomes relevant when it is used with reference to its source and the targets against which it has to be evaluated. Sierra’s data analysis includes, estimating current trends, integrating and summarizing disparate information, validating models of understanding, and predicting missing information or future trends. This process of data analysis is also called data mining or knowledge discovery. Typical analysis tools we use include:
- Probability theory - e.g. classification, clustering and Bayesian networks;
- Statistical methods - e.g. regression;
- Operations research - e.g. queuing and scheduling;
- Artificial intelligence - e.g. neural networks and fuzzy logic.
Situation awareness
Business Intelligence is about getting to the core of the information by filtering out irrelevant information, and setting the remaining information in the context of the business and its environment. Sierra understand the organizations need to obtain the key items of relevant, and summaries that are syntheses of all the relevant data (market forces, government policy etc.). Our situation awareness is the grasp of the context in which to understand and make decisions.
Risk assessment
Business Intelligence empowers the organization to make informed decisions and take affective actions at the appropriate time. The ability to provide pertinent information to the target group of people at the opportune time is the hallmark of a BI system. Sierra work with you to assess the current and future risk, cost or benefit of taking one action over another, or making one decision versus another by working closely with you and delivering the information you require for the decisions you need.
Decision support
Business Intelligence is about using information wisely.It aims to provide warning you of important events, such as takeovers, market changes, and performance optimization, so that you can take preventative steps. Sierra seeks to help you analyze and make better business decisions, to improve sales or customer satisfaction or strategic initiatives. Sierra empowers you by presenting the information you need, when you need it.
